On Friday, December 22, 2017, Sherrie Lynn Collins quietly left this world surrounded by friends and family. Sherrie is survived by her parents, Debra Arceneaux Collins and Craig Joseph Collins, Sr. and her furry companion, Princess, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Sherrie was preceded in death by her brother, Craig Joseph Collins, Jr. Along with her brother, Sherrie is reunited with her maternal grandparents, Beverly Autin Arceneaux, and Ernest Arceneaux, Sr.; her paternal grandparents, Amos “Buddy” and Joycelyn Marquez Collins; and her cousins and other relations. Sherrie battled with health issues for most of her life. In January 1995, Sherrie received a liver transplant which allowed her an additional twenty two years on this earth with family and friends. In the end, it was her heart that would eventually fail. The Collins family would like to extend our thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Ochsner Hospital, the Cardiac Team, Dr. Samy Abdelghani, West Jefferson Hospital, the Lupus Foundation, the Louisiana Organ Procurement Association (LOPA), and the many friends and family who have continuously supported us.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery in Gretna. In lieu of flowers, donations to The American Lung Association, The Lupus Foundation, or LOPA. Express condolences at www.westsideleitzeagan.com.
