Bala Mangru died peacefully on December 27, 2017, at the age of 101. Loving father of Christine Schaaf, Kathleen Mentink, Margaret Mangru, and Daniel Mangru. Grandfather to four (Gabrielle Mangru Tally, Matthew Mangru, Mark Mentink, and Sara Wyss) and Great-grandfather to four (Nora, Leif, Silas, and Bosco Wyss). Beloved brother of Narainee Matzinger, Soney James Mangru, Kathleen Hamilton, Stella Hecham, and Betty Rambally, all of whom are now with the Lord. Bala was born in British Guiana. He studied in Trinidad, Jamaica, Canada, the United States and Mexico, ultimately earning a MD. Bala worked as a psychiatrist in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. He was an avid traveler, proudly recalling his presence in over 100 countries. Bala knew the Bible inside and out, he was a prolific reader, and he enjoyed spending time in the discussion of fruitful matters. For the past approximate five years, Bala resided at Brookdale Senior Living Solutions in Clearwater, Florida. His daily care was augmented by Empath Health Hospice Care for the past three months. Bala’s loving daughter-in-law, Roma Mangru, also provided consistent care for him over the years. Bala will remain a wonderful spirit in the hearts of all those who loved and cared for him.
