He moved his family to Dallas in 1965 and founded Industrial Equipment Company of Dallas where he served as President and CEO for over 30 years. He also served on the Distributor Advisory Council for The Automatic Switch Company- Florham Park NJ, and on the Board of Directors for MGINC- Chicago Ill.
After moving to Dallas, Dave became very involved with St. Patrick's Church and School. He served on the Parish Council under 3 different pastors, and was President of the St. Patrick Men's Club. His service and leadership also included many years on the Bishop Lynch School Board, 3 of which he served as President, and as a member of the Board of Directors for Catholic Charities.
Dave enlisted in the United States Army in 1965 and was sent to Ft. Dix NJ. After completing basic training he was assigned to Ft. Monmouth NJ where he studied basic and advanced electronics, ground detection radar, airborne detection radar, fire detection radar, and air traffic control systems. He was promoted to Warrant Officer and proudly served his country for 7 years. His tours of duty while in the Army included Desert Rock Nevada for the Atomic Bomb Tests, Nuremberg Germany during the Berlin Crisis, and Ft Stewart Georgia during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Dave is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret "Marge" Cooper, his son Greg Cooper and daughter in law Pat Cooper, his daughter Margaret Ann Jones and son in law Randy Jones, and his beloved grandchildren Raymond Cooper, Daniel Cooper, Erin Cooper, David Jones, and Margaret "Maggie" Jones.
A rosary will be held on Friday December 29 at 6:30 pm at St Patrick's Catholic Church in Dallas. The funeral Mass will be held December 30 at 1:00 pm also at St Patrick's Catholic Church.
