Denise Teresa (Bourdon) Jop, 50, of Fairhaven, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital following a brief illness. She was the loving wife of Krzysztof Jop with whom she shared 12 years of marriage.
Born in Woonsocket, RI, she was the daughter of Pauline (Pichette) Bourdon and the late Wilfrid “Sonny” Bourdon, Jr.
Denise was a graduate of Mount Saint Charles Academy in Woonsocket, class of 1984, Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Lesley University in Cambridge and received her Master of Education degree from Rhode Island College in Providence.
Mrs. Jop was an outstanding and dedicated first grade teacher at the John W. Decas Elementary School in Wareham for the past 12 years. Previously she taught in Woonsocket where she implemented the Teacher Reader Program. Denise loved her profession and her students.
In her spare time, Denise was an avid Cajun Zydeco dancer and enjoyed trips to Louisiana. She was very fond of her horse, Stormy and her dog, Xavi. She and her husband loved fishing of all kinds, especially fly fishing. Denise was a devoted and loving mother to her children who meant the world to her.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Krzysztof and her mother, Pauline are her children, Brittany and Marc Jop, her brother Michael Bourdon and her niece and godchild, Nicole Bourdon.
Her Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 11:00am in St. Joseph’s Church, 74 Spring St., in Fairhaven.
