She was born on July 25, 1933, in Beacon, NY, the daughter of John and Mabel Taylor Stairs.
Barbara grew up in Beacon NY, until she married the love of her life in 1950. Barbara was truly authentic in every way. She had a gift for immediately making a person feel special in her presence, whether you were her friend or someone she just met. Having stayed young at heart, she brought laughter and joy to many. She had a love for all music, and was a wonderful piano player herself. She was also an accomplished oil painter, who enjoyed being a member of Clinton art society. Barbara had a unique way with children, and enjoyed teaching Sunday school for many years. Amongst her many interests Barbara enjoyed playing her video games, crocheting, knitting, cooking and was an avid reader. She was very proud of her Scottish heritage and studying it, as well as developing a passion for ancient Egyptian archaeology which remained throughout her life. What brought her the most joy of all was her family, which she most definitely was the cornerstone of. She will be missed by all who loved her.
Barbara is survived by her husband Willard Phillips; children Rhonda Shelomis and her husband Edward of Shelton, CT, Cynthia Lamb and her husband John of Oviedo, FL, Bruce Phillips and his wife Pauline of Killingly, CT, Glenn Phillips and Corinna Hahn of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Gordon Phillips and his wife Michelle of East Haddam, CT, and Terri Wilber and her husband James of Westbrook, CT; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
