Johnny was born in High Point, October 16, 1958, a son of James Luther Hopkins and Wilda Louise Seagers. A truck driver his entire life, he worked for IE Furniture for many years. Johnny always saw the good in everyone and everything and he had a great-sense of humor. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, uncle and cousin. Johnny enjoyed fishing, hunting, old cars and motorcycles. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Jimmy Hopkins.
Surviving are his wife and best friend of 24 years, Penny Mason Hopkins; a daughter, Kimberly Dawn Hunt and husband Shannon; a son, Johnny Dwayne Hopkins and wife Jennifer; his mother, Wilda Seagers; two sisters, Dreama Joyce “Duh” Brown and husband David and Faye McDaniels and husband Elwood; two brothers, Randy Lee “Monk” Hopkins and Gerald Little; two grandchildren, Maureen “Mo” Hopkins and Maddie Hunt; and his four legged friend, Macy.
A Celebration of Johnny’s life will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Sechrest Funeral Home, Archdale Chapel, by Pastor J.R. Hughart. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 6 until 8 p.m
