James Mason Carr, 73, passed away of lung disease, on Thursday, February 22nd at NorthCare Hospice House. He was born in Lima, Ohio to Jack and Mary Carr who preceded him in death. Also preceding Jim in death was his brother, Jerry and longtime partner, Steve Corne. Jim graduated from St. Joseph Schools in Wapakoneta, Ohio, he received a bachelor’s degree in vocal music from Miami University, Ohio and master’s degree in Theater from Ball State University. Survivors include his brother John, (Dixie), sister-in law, Doris, nieces and nephews, Tracy Bertram, Michael Carr, Cathie Grant, Kelly Abraham, Angie Carr Robinett , Terry Carr and Sarah Wright, great nieces, nephews, cousins, former students, friends, co- workers and bridge friends.
Jim had a long career as a high school music educator where he is fondly remembered by many students as a great teacher, lover of music and theater and kind mentor. He also leaves many friends from his career at United Consumer Club. Jim was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church where he sang in the choir. The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the staff for the constant loving care and unending kindness given to Jim during his final days at NorthCare Hospice House.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, February 28th at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Kansas City, MO, where a Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM and visitation following until 8:00 PM. Memorial contributions can be made in Jim’s name to St. Patrick Church or NorthCare Hospice House.
