Elizabeth Burroughs Rohr (Bette) passed away peacefully at her home on February 23, 2018. She was born in Long Hill, Trumbull to Stephen Jennings Burroughs and Clara Sanford Burroughs on June 21, 1925. She lived in Easton for more than 80 years. She was a graduate of Bassick High School, graduated from Penn Hall and graduated from Pembroke College, part of Brown University.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband Robert Lee Rohr, and her two brothers Stephen Sanford Burroughs and Robert Owen Burroughs. She leaves behind her daughter, Cynthia Rohr-Blyth and husband William Blyth, her daughter Barbara Rohr, and her son Richard James Rohr and his wife Charmane Arrington Rohr. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren and spouses, Ashley Blyth Matos and her husband Wanderley Matos, Elizabeth Rohr Chandler and her husband Kyle Chandler, Andrew Rohr, Matthew Rohr and his fiance Lauren Geshel, Alexandra Hudd Sandgren and her husband Erik Sandgren, Victoria Sanford Hudd, and Jacob Aaron Schachter. Bette also had three great grandchildren, Harmony Kunkel, Elizabeth J. Chandler and Hughes R. Chandler.
For many years, she co-owned MB Sales and ran many estate sales throughout Fairfield County. She was passionate about antiques and was a founding member of the Easton Historical Society. She participated in many civic organizations including Girl Scouts, Episcopal Church Women, and the Easton Historical Society.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, Easton. A Christian burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Parish of Christ Church, Easton.
