Herman Thomas, 88 year-old resident of Jones, Oklahoma, passed away on March 2, 2018 at his home. Born April 1, 1929 in Sawyer, Oklahoma, he was the son of Berry Thomas and Ella (Martin) Thomas. Herman was a fence builder with a real knack for getting them built just right. Herman was an Army veteran, serving as a Private First Class. He married his wife, Lura Louise (Turnage) on Dec. 3, 1954 and together they had three daughters and four sons. He enjoyed fishing, reading the morning paper, and watching his favorite shows on TV, including NCIS and Bluebloods. Herman was preceded in death by his parents, Berry and Ella Thomas; his wife, Lura Louise Thomas; 18 Siblings, sons, Rocky Thomas, Floyd Thomas, and Lonnie Chapman, daughter, Deloris Chapman, and grandson, Buddy Lee Pittman. Survivors include 2 daughters, Donna and her husband Raymond Pittman of Jones, Oklahoma; Doris and her husband Moe Arabic of Picayune, Mississippi; 1 son, Joe Thomas of Edmond, Oklahoma; 24 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel, 8805 NE 23rd St., Oklahoma City, OK 73141 with burial following Military Honors being rendered by a U. S. Army Honors Detail in Jones I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Jones, Oklahoma.
