Judi was born July 3, 1942 in Laurens, NY, the daughter of Roger D. and Anice (Johnson) Faye. She graduated from Oneonta High School and attended SUNY Oneonta. She was married to Frederick Judkins in 1962. They divorced in the early 90’s.
Judi started working as a waitress at The Duke Diner in the early 70’s, saving her tip money to buy her daughter her first pony. She also worked for Dr John Leahy DVM in the late 70’s and early 80’s. Later she worked as a weighmaster at Empire Livestock and Chambers Livestock auctions. She ran the restaurant at Empire Livestock in Oneonta for several years. She loved to cook, and also loved the good natured grief she got and gave to the farmers and truckers there. She worked for the Otego Post Office as a rural carrier from the early 80’s until her retirement.
During retirement she made it her mission to knit as many mittens as possible for the Salvation Army at Christmas time. She tried to bake something for every bake sale held by the animal shelter. She loved going to lawn sales. She was a good friend, and a great mom. She had a kind heart, especially for kids and animals.
Judi is survived by her daughter and son in law, Deidre (Jeffrey) Lent of Unadilla, and her beloved dog Chilly Willy Chi Wa Wa III. She is also survived by several cousins and many dear friends. Family isn’t always related by blood, and Judi is also survived by the family she chose- Matt and Carolyn Crosby, Sarah Roman, Cathy Delaney, Nancy Komenda and Holly Bunn, friends who were more like family and who were always there whenever she needed anything, Tammy Butts and Lisa Lent who were like extra kids to her. She loved all of you!
Services will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family.
Donations in Judi’s memory can be made to The Delaware Valley Humane Society, 101 East Main Street, Sidney NY 13838.
