He was a native of Crowley, grew up in Jennings, and had been a resident of Sulphur for nearly 50 years. Harry was an active member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, Knights of Columbus Council 3015, where he served as past Grand Knight, managed the Knights of Columbus hall's weekly Bingo games, and was also very involved in the KC's fundraising activities. He was a proud supporter of Sulphur High School athletics and previously served as a Booster.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Irma Miller Jones of Sulphur; his children, Steve Jones and wife, Cathy of Lake Charles, Tim Jones and wife, Dee of Lafayette, Randy Jones and wife, Gwen of Beaumont, Texas, and Stephanie Fontenot and husband, Cas of Covington; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 10, in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. The Rev. Edward Richard, M.S. will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Bradly Jones, Bryan Jones, Austin Fontenot, Thayer Jones, Garrin Fontenot, and Matthew Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters, Grayson Jones, Madalyn Jones, and Myranda Jones. Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Knights of Columbus Council 3015 or Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church.
