Eugene “Gene-o” C. Scovill, 87 of Kansas City, MO died at his home on Tuesday, March 6, 2018. He was born on September 7, 1930 to Lulu C. (Strupp) Scovill and Frank Scovill in Gashland, MO. After graduation from Manual Vocational High School in Kansas City, Gene served in the US Navy in Norfolk, VA for four years, and spent 26 years as a member of the Kansas City, MO Police Department; 22 of those on the motorcycle squad. In addition to serving the citizens of KC, he met and escorted eight U.S. Presidents and Vice Presidents, and for many years, escorted film stars and producers for Kansas City’s annual Show-a-Rama convention. In addition he trained and mentored young police officers at the police academy and at the Central Missouri State University campus. Gene was a four-time president of the North Kansas City Lion’s Club. He enjoyed golf, wood-crafting, home remodeling, reading, especially history and military history, and spoiling his cats.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Marilyn, his daughter Carla Scovill of Gladstone, and his son Bruce Scovill, daughter-in-law Susan, and granddaughter Clara Scovill of Jefferson City.
Preceding him in death were his brothers Don and Joseph “Scotty” Scovill, and sister Anna May Hedden.
