Erma Mae Adams, 95, of Nacogdoches passed away peacefully in Nacogdoches, TX, Wednesday morning, March 7, 2018. She was born to George Cummings and Amanda Selman Cummings on June 5, 1922, in Alto, Texas. Erma made a wonderful home for her family and was the curator for the Old Nacogdoches University Building. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed gardening, sewing, Bible study and simply loved to serve others. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club, Baptist Women, Baptist Young Women and Acteens (Youth on Mission).
She is survived by her husband, Eugene Adams; Sons, Kenneth Lanier and wife Gloria and Gene Lanier and wife Sue; daughter, Gaynell Karseno and husband Johnnie; stepchildren, Darrel Adams, Carolyn Goldsberry and James Adams; six grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; husbands, Elmo Earl Lanier and George Lunsford; brothers, George W. Cummings, J.V. Cummings and Quillan Cummings.
Services will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Nacogdoches, TX with interment to follow at Shady Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday evening from 5 to 7 o’clock at Cason Monk-Metcalf. Serving as pallbearers: Brady Lanier, Lewis Lanier, Michael Lanier, Keith Karseno, Clayton Karseno, Jason Shiver and James Adams. Honorary pallbearer will be Darrell Adams.
