Donald Earl Stackhouse, born July 19, 1927, passed away peacefully on Mar. 7th, surrounded by his loving family. Donald or “Donsie” as his family liked to call him, was 90. Donald resided with his wife, Norma Tuttle-Stackhouse in Chatham. At 17, with written permission from his mother, Donald quit school and joined the Navy and served in the Pacific during the latter part of WWII. After returning from service, he went back to school and graduated from Thayer Academy in Braintree. Eventually he went on to work for the telephone company for over 30 years until his retirement. Donald and Norma met later in life and enjoyed a wonderful, loving relationship for over 30 yrs. Donald was a Jazz musician and played the Alto Saxophone throughout his younger years in various bands. Donsie and Norma loved going to Newport to listen to Jazz musicians and attending the annual Jazz Festival. Donald is survived by his wife Norma and his step children John, Susan and Joni Tuttle, his nephew Raymond Stackhouse of Bernardsville, NJ and niece Joan Shevel of Windsor, CT. Visiting hours will be held at Nickerson Funeral Home in Chatham Sunday, Mar. 11th, from 2 to 5 p.m. There will be a graveside service at Seaside Cemetery on Monday, Mar. 12th, at 10:30am.
