Wanita “Skeeter “ Bartee (94), wife of the late Lawrence William ”Bill” Bartee passed away on March 7, 2018 at Hacienda at the River in Tucson, Arizona.
Skeeter was born into the farming family of Joseph Thomas Howard and Louisa Maude Robeson Howard in Tuttle, OK on Feb.3, 1924. She graduated from Holt High School, Holt, Missouri in 1942. In 1949 she married Bill Bartee and started the adventure of traveling the world as a U.S. Navy wife. After Bill’s retirement from naval service, the couple settled in the Tucson area in 1963.
Wanita is preceded in death by her husband Bill, her parents, her brother Joseph Ralph Howard; three sisters Martha Mae Mills, Gertie Lou Howard and Nadine Eddins. She is survived by brothers-in-law Ned Bartee and wife Mary Ann of Bellaire, Texas and Ted Bartee and his wife Windy of Clover, SC; nieces Louisa Rader, Martha Gibson, Charlotte Garrison, Betty Baca, Sandy Krause, Pamela Boettcher, Gwen Jones; nephews William G. Mills, William Clay Bartee, Brandon Sample Bartee, Bailey Bass Bartee, Clay Dillon Bartee, Jon Andrew Bartee, Bryan Bartee and many great nieces and nephews.
Skeeter was an avid bowler of duck pins, collector of thimbles, pencil sharpeners and other collectables. She was a faithful member of the Christian Church and volunteered many hours at the church while her health allowed. She loved her garden and feeding the quail in her back yard. She enjoyed travelling with Bill and the beautiful outdoors. She will be missed for her quiet, generous spirit and her devotion to family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, March 23, 2018 at the Chapel of East Lawn-Palms Mortuary, 5801 E. Grant Road, Tucson, AZ.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be donated to Seguaro Christian Church, 8302 E. Broadway, Tucson, AZ 85710.
