Maynard Eugene Steinman, 80 of El Dorado died on March 9, 2018. His life ended as he had lived, with resolve, guts, pride and humility. He died with a confidence in the love and respect of his family and the assurance of a life everlasting.
Maynard was born October 31, 1937 in Arlington, Ohio. His parents were Raymond and Wanda Anderson Steinman. Much like all boys growing up in the 1940’s, he was raised understanding that the most important virtues in life were hard work, honesty even when it wasn’t easy, and family. Those virtues he never forgot, never questioned, and never failed to live by. A gift of a pony led him to his first job. He got paid a dollar a day for riding and breaking ponies for other families. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1956, a football and basketball letterman and a true son the 50’s with a hot rod,’49 Ford. He was well known for tearing up his future father-in-law’s driveway.
In 1957, he married his high school sweetheart, Charlotte Smith and started working as a mechanic at Arlington Ford Sales. Two years later he started working for Cooper Tire and Rubber Company in Findlay, Ohio. That job took him to Auburn, Indiana in 1960 and in 1969 he was transferred to the El Dorado plant as a Materials manager. He retired from Cooper Tire in 1993 and for the next several years owned and managed J and M Car Wash. He loved to fish and really loved to hunt and was always known as a card and domino shark.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Charlotte Smith Steinman, one son, Bruce Steinman of El Dorado; four daughters, Joan Murphree, Beth Burns (Paul), Heidi Bolland (Jim), all of El Dorado, and Emily Aulds (Andy) of Houston; fourteen grandchildren, Justin Murphree (Kerry), Jennifer Griffin, Shelcy McGriff (Jeffrey), Evan James, Grace Burns Terbrock, Kenny Burns, Jackson Burns, William Burns, Caroline Burns, Jordan Bolland, Ashton Bolland, Drake Hosford, Logan Porter (Kayla) and Brodie Aulds; seven great grandchildren, Rachel Murphree, Garrison Griffin, Kaden McGriff, Rayson McGriff, Corbet McGriff, Kinsley McGriff and Brayleigh Porter. He is also survived by one sister, Sheila Potter (Don) of Cincinnati, Ohio.
