Edith G. Pierson, age 91, passed away on March 10th at Hearthstone Manor in Woodstock, IL, with her family by her side. She was lovingly cared for by the wonderful and dedicated caregivers at Hearthstone, with Journey Care staff providing additional support for Edith and her family.
Edith was born on July 8, 1926, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Gustav and Esther (Budoff) Grubbe. She married Jack V. Pierson in January, 1945. She and her parents moved from Chicago to Crystal Lake in 1976 to be near her daughter and grandson. She enjoyed living in Crystal Lake and she was an active member of the Ridgefield-CL Presbyterian Church.
Edith was a true left-handed creative who was talented in sewing, needlework, painting. Early on, and throughout her life, she found great joy in singing and dancing. She also had a passion for American cars, especially fast ones, from her years working as a bookkeeper at car dealerships. She was a skilled two-footed driver who was fast on the open roads and city streets.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Nygren; grandson, Michael Nygren; wife, Samantha; and great-grandsons, Scott, Brett and Matthew Nygren. They will miss her very much, especially her warm smile, funny stories and her singing of show tunes and hymns. She knew all the words!
Edith is preceded in death by her parents and husband. At her request, burial services will be private.
Memorial donations can be made in Edith's name to Hearthstone Communities, 920 N. Seminary Avenue, Woodstock, IL, 60098.
