Jeffrey Beck, 64 of Ellicott City, Maryland, formerly of Livingston, N.J. passed peacefully on March 10, 2018. A funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 14, at 1:15 pm at Bernheim Apter Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Road., Livingston, NJ.
Jeffrey Beck, LPC, ICGC II, BACC, JD, CART, MCTC, ABD, was the Clinical Director at The Maryland Center of Excellence on Problem Gambling, which is part of the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He previously served as the Assistant Director of Clinical Services, Research and Treatment at the Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey. Jeff practiced law for 18 years before returning to school to get a Masters in Addiction Counseling, completing all course work and qualifying exams for a Ph.D. In Social Work. Jeff was a graduate of Livingston High School Class of ‘71, Washington University in St. Louis and Seton Hall University School of Law.
Jeffrey loved music, reading, bridge, sports and above all else - life. His unselfishness, passion and compassion were evident each and every day, in the numerous lives he touched and the people he helped.
Jeffrey is survived by his wife, Karen; his parents Felix & Doris, the former Mayor of Livingston; his brother Bruce and his wife, Janet; his brother Steven and his wife, Lauren; four nephews and one great niece.
