Helen and Houston married on August 7, 1948 and were married for 28 years until our father’s passing on May 31, 1977. During their life together they lived in Houston and in 1957 they moved to Sulphur Springs, TX and operated a dairy farm for almost six years. They returned to Houston in 1964 where they lived the remainder of their lives.
Helen enjoyed traveling. She traveled with family and friends to places she dreamed of including Hawaii, The Holy Lands, and numerous cruises. Family was always important to her and she was always there to help.
She had many jobs during her life including clerical work and caring for children, and retired at the age of 86 as a cashier at Lowe’s. Everyone always loved her.
She is survived by her girls (as she called them): Becky Haralson and her husband Dennis and Debbie Pollock and her husband Kenneth. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Chris Haralson, Brad Sutherland and his wife Valerie, Stacy Escobedo and her husband Brandon, and Meagan Pollock, as well as four great grandchildren: Brayden and Olivia Sutherland and Logan and Luke Escobedo. Of nine children she has one surviving brother, Bill Broyles.
She is predeceased by her husband, Houston Ragsdale, four brothers (Maurice, Sidney, Cecil and Alton) and three sisters (Alma, Frances and Jeanne).
Our mother had multiple nicknames. We love you Mama, Tutu, Aunt Snookie and Little Bit. She will be missed by all.
We would like to give special thanks to Tranquility Personal Care Home and Bluebonnet Home Care and Hospice for their loving care.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, March 14, 2018 from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm with the funeral service at 12:00 pm in The Chapel of Angels at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, Texas 77023. The graveside service will immediately follow.
