Our dear Mother, Grandmother, Auntie Doris Ann Ladd passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the age of 80. She was born in Chowchilla to Helen and Guy Gentry on September 3, 1937. She graduated from Chowchilla High School in 1955. After graduation she moved out for a short time and worked for Pacific Bell as an operator in Fresno. On a visit home she stopped to get gas where she met up with the love of her life Robert “Bob” Ladd, he asked her out on a date and she said “yes”. He later asked her to marry him and again she said “yes”. She quit her job to become a full time homemaker, which she really loved. They were married for 25 years, which in her words was not long enough, she was very happy. They made their home in Chowchilla and had two boys Robert “Bobby” Ladd and Brian Ladd. While raising her two boys she became very active in the community she joined the Rebekah’s in 1986 and she also joined the Lionesses and became a Charter Member in 1981, she was a part of the Spring Festival Committee from 1974-1984. She loved her brothers and sisters in these organizations and being a part of the community and helping out in any way she could. She especially had a knack in baking, she made countless beautiful wedding cakes and even created some of the first recipes on the packaging of Blue Diamond Almonds. That was truly a treat for everyone with all the experimental baking being tried out on the family and neighbors. After Bob passed on she went to work to busy herself. She worked at Farnesis’ as a Hostess for 10 years, then went to work for Marvin Tuff Insurance as a secretary, then later went to work at Walmart as a greeter at Walmart she made a lot of people smile, every year she and Norman dressed up as Mr. & Mrs. Clause. Her grandkids loved it! She then retired and enjoyed going on cruises and other various trips with her good friends. Throughout all this volunteering and traveling she always had time for her family and they always came first. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert “Bob” Ladd, parents Helen and Guy Gentry, and older brother Garland Gentry. Doris leaves behind her eldest brother James Gentry, sons, Bobby, Brian, Daughter in law Bertha, granddaughters Amanda, Ashley and great grandchildren Blake and Briana. Tell you what, those great grand kids could make her light up. She was truly loved and will be missed. A very special Thank You to you all for your prayers in our time of need.
