Age 85, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, died March 11, 2018.
A celebration of life will be at 5:30 p.m. May 19, 2018, at the Embassy Suites Hotel, downtown Tuscaloosa.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents Joseph L. and Edith J. McIntosh of Owosso.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years Glen L. Eaton originally of McMinnville, Tennessee; children Suzanne Eaton Wimberley (Smith) of Tyler, Texas, Daniel Eaton and Ken Eaton (Iris) of Tuscaloosa, and Craig Eaton (Stephen) of Palm Springs, California; as well as seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Marilyn was born in Owosso. After graduating as Salutatorian from Owosso High School in 1950, she attended Cleary College in Ypsilanti, where she met her husband Glen. After raising four children, Marilyn became actively involved as a mental health advocate and leader within the Alabama mental health community. She served as President of the West Alabama chapter of NAMI (National Alliance for the Mentally Ill), tirelessly served as a resource to families affected by mental illness and worked to ensure board and care homes housing mentally ill clients throughout West Alabama remained safe and dignified places to live.
Marilyn loved spending time with her family, traveling, gardening, and on home improvement projects and crafts of all sorts. Her kindness and giving of self will be keenly missed by her family and friends.
Donations may be made, in Marilyn’s name, to the national organization for Restless Legs Syndrome, Restless Legs Syndrome Foundation (RLS.org), a condition Marilyn suffered from for many years, or a charity of your choice.
