Ada Duve Terry, 91, passed away peacefully in her sleep March 12, 2018 at home in Columbia, Missouri. She was born January 30, 1927, in Luinjeberd, Netherlands, to Harry and Grace Popkema. They immigrated to America through Ellis Island when she was 3 years old. The family traveled by train across the United States, from New York to Washington State eventually settling in Carnation, Washington. Ada graduated from Tolt High School, Carnation, WA, in 1945 and went on to business school.
In 1947 she married her high school sweetheart John (Jay) Eugene Duve. They were blessed with five children. Ada and Jay lived in Pullman, WA; Mt. Vernon, WA; Eugene, OR; Orem, UT; Provo, UT; Scottsbluff, NE; and finally Columbia, MO. They enjoyed wonderful life-long friendships along the way. Jay passed way from cancer in 1983. Ada worked outside the home, retiring from JC Penney proudly earning her “gold” card.
In 1988 she married William R. Terry. Together they lived and had a Christmas tree farm outside of Columbia, MO, until they retired and became fulltime residents of Lake of the Ozarks in 1996. She loved the lake and entertaining family and friends there. She enjoyed RV/traveling, cooking, gardening, boating, dancing, bridge as well as other games. In 2015 Ada and Bill moved to the Laurie Knolls retirement home in Laurie, MO. Bill passed in December 2017 and Ada moved to Columbia.

Great-grandchildren: Kate and Owen Lucius, North Oaks, MN. Sons of her sister Jane (deceased): Ross (Caroline) Loundenback, North Bend, WA; and Aaron (Luella) Loudenback, Tacoma, WA. Ada is also survived by her sister-in-laws Mary Kennedy, Edmonds, WA; and Carol (Lloyd) Allen Portland, TN, and nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at Oakland Christian Church, 2929 E. Oakland Church Rd., Columbia, MO, at 1:30 PM Saturday, March 24, family will be present prior to the service at 1:00 PM and also after the service in the fellowship hall.
