Mike was born on July 13, 1934 in Newark, NJ to his parents, John and Winifred (McCormack) Flood. Mike is survived by his loving wife Marie (Girgenti). He is also survived by his daughter, Susan Valence and her husband, Mark, of Lyme, NH, his son, David Flood and his wife, Lauren of Midlothian, VA, and his daughter, Karen Monteiro and her husband, Stephen of Sudbury, MA. Also survived by 7 grandchildren, Althea and Quinn Valence, Lexie, Brian, and Colin Flood, and Casey and Gavin Monteiro. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their spouses and children. He is preceded in death by his two brothers, John and James Flood.
Mike, a veteran, served in the army from 1954 to 1956 and was stationed in South Korea. He graduated from Fordham University with a Business degree in 1960 majoring in Accounting. He obtained his CPA in 1963 and is a member of the AICPA and a former member of the NY State CPA society. He started his career in public accounting with Hurdman & Cranston eventually becoming a partner in Main Hurdman (KPMG) in New York City. In 1984, Mike was a founding partner of Hartley, McKenna, and Flood in Oak Brook, Illinois. Later the firm merged with Crowe Chizek (Crowe Horwath) in 1986 where Mike served as Head of the International Tax Division. He was Vice President of Taxation for Daimler Benz North America until his retirement on January 1, 2000.
A private celebration of his life will take place on March 19 at Duckett Funeral Home in Sudbury, MA. followed by a burial at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
