TULYSEWSKI, Diana Kelty 92, of Canton, Thursday March 22. Daughter of the late Henry M. and Marie (Baril) Kelty. Beloved wife of the late Michael Edmond Tulysewski. Devoted mother of Rayna Tulysewski and her partner Lawrence Friedman of Belmont, and Luke Tulysewski and his wife Alison of Adelaide, Australia. Loving grandmother of Max and Grace Tulysewski. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Diana graduated from Cambridge Latin High School in 1943. An avid artist, her yearbook includes one of her earliest works and the inscription, ‘Although a model she could be, Di is an artist instead, you see.’ Graduating at the height of WWII, Diana first applied her drawing skills to the war effort as a draftsperson at the MIT Radiation Lab, which designed half of all the radar systems used during the war. She then went on to graduate with distinction from Boston’s School of the Museum of Fine Arts in 1948. She joined her fiancé and fellow Museum School alum Michael Tulysewski in Paris, where he was studying on a travelling fellowship, and they were married shortly thereafter. Upon their return to the US, the couple settled in Canton where Diana spent the remaining 70 years of her life. A dedicated mother, gifted artist and avid antique collector, Diana also taught art privately and at Canton’s Saint John the Evangelist School in the early 1960s.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday April 7th in the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St. (Rt. 1A), NORWOOD, from 9:30 – 10:30 AM, with a service beginning at 10:30. Private interment at a later date at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Roslindale. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Diana’s memory to the Canton Art Association, or the Canton Senior Center.
