Larry Don Bellew passed from this earth March 23rd, 2018, at the age 80 years old. Larry was born May 1st 1937 in McCurtain, Oklahoma, he also had lived in Stigler, Oklahoma growing up. The family moved to OKC, where Larry attended Capitol Hill High School. In 1962, Larry entered the U.S. Army and the Reserves – he stayed in the military until 1968 and was an expert rifle and marksman (pistol). He had a love for horses and became a competitive calf-roper in the rodeo circuit in Oklahoma and some surrounding states. He also loved to West Coast swing dance plus line and ballroom dance. He was a member for 65 years of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 344 in Oklahoma City; some in that profession, referred to Larry as a “Legend” for his welding skill and ability to climb heights and weld without problems.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Ray Henry Bellew and Elva Pauline Bellew of Oklahoma City; Betty Hodge (sister) and her husband, Willis (Corkey) Hodge of Jones, OK; Step-daughter, Shannon Primeau of Oklahoma City.
Larry is survived by his wife of 26 years, Shirley Bellew of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Letitia Brooks and Laura Webb of Oklahoma. He had one step-daughter, Jorgee; and two step-sons, Mark and Ernie, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He loved being with his family and family gatherings. Truly a great man that will be forever loved.
