Joyce was born in Augusta, January 7, 1970 to Egide J. Dostie and Jo-ann (Henry) Dostie. She grew up in Skowhegan and attended local schools. After high school she moved to Brooklyn, NY, and attended college where she studied Medical Assisting. Joyce was always a quick learner, a good student and a very hard worker.
She married Vincent Barbuto in 1999, and after having their two children, Vincent III (18) and Alexis (16), she was thrilled to be able to move back to Skowhegan with her family and raise her children in her family home with her husband. Her children were her whole life, her pride and joy, she was looking forward to planning a graduation party for Vincent III and attending Alexis’ dance recital this spring.
Joyce was amazingly successful at whatever she tried, she was a fabulous cook priding herself in continuing family recipes passed on to her from her Memere Dostie, especially coconut cake she would make for her dad on his birthday.
In addition to her husband and children, Joyce will be sorely missed by her dad, Egide Dostie, her stepmother, Elizabeth, and her brothers, Egide II, Joseph of Moore, OK, Robert Dostie, her special nephews, Egide Ill., Robert II, and her dear niece Elise Dostie all of Fairfield; her stepbrothers and their wives, Cullen and Allison Jumper and their children of Durham, NH, Devin Jumper and Julie Rose of Hamden, CT. She was also loved and will be remembered by her best friend Melinda, Larry, Brittnie, and LJ Lawler all of Fairfield, and her beloved dogs, Cody and Emma.
Joyce was raised in a close and loving family with many aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom are very sad at her passing.
