Susan was born in Knoxville, Tennessee to the late James William Clark and Dar Sue Corder Clark. The family moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1973 and relocated to Birmingham, Alabama in 1982. Susan’s childhood was filled with camping and travelling with family and friends. She graduated from W.A. Berry High School in 1988. She attended The University of Alabama and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education in 1992. Susan was an active member of Phi Mu, where she made many lifelong friends. She went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Special Education at UAB. Susan made many friends while teaching at Brookwood Forest and Riverchase Elementary. Susan’s passion was teaching; she referred to her students as “her kids.” She was an active member of Birmingham Junior League, Supper Club, and Southminster Presbyterian Church. Susan loved gardening, baking, and taking long road trips with her daughters during summer vacation. Susan is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughters Mary Alice and Elizabeth Corcoran, and her sister Laura Griffin (Woody), their children Holland and Bennett. A graveside service will be held April 6 at 8:00 CST at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs, Georgia. A memorial service will be held on April 6 at Southminster Presbyterian Church
at 4:00 pm CST officiated by Ben Acton, with a reception to follow in Grace Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southminster Presbyterian Church, 1124 Montgomery Hwy, Vestavia Hills, AL 35216.
