Tommie Joyce “Nannie” Huddleston, 87, of Paris, passed away, at her home, Tuesday, April 3, 2018. Funeral service are scheduled for 10:00 am, Thursday, April 5, 2018, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Reverend Guille Seigler officiating. Burial will be made in New Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Wednesday, April 4, 2018, from 6-7 pm.
Mrs. Huddleston was born July 27, 1930 in Telephone, Texas to Charles Thomas Dodds and Nellie May Vancill Dodds. Tommie attended school at Aikin Grove, south of Clarksville and finished her last year at Dimple High School. Her first teaching job was at East Paris where she worked in the very first summer Headstart Program. She taught three kindergarten classes at Justiss and later worked at Givens with TMR. Following this she moved to Paris High School with the LIFE students. Tommie was always happy in every position she worked. Working with the students was the most rewarding part of her job. Following 30 years with PISD she retired her teaching career. After retirement, she went to work for several years with ABC Learning Center. Tommie was a faithful member of Springlake Baptist Church.
On February 16, 1948, she married Buncie Leonard Huddleston and he preceded her in death on March 19, 2008, having built sixty years of family and memories.
She is also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Wanda Lewis. Survivors include her son, Tommy Lynn Huddleston & wife Cindy of Paris; a grandson, Micah Huddleston & wife Tina of Sumner and a granddaughter, Jinifer Saunders & husband John of Blossom; one great grandchild, Dain Ross Thurman of Blossom; one sister, Cheryl Bills & husband James of Clarksville, along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. She was affectionately known, by many, as “Nannie”. Casket bearers will be Joey Stanphill, Joe Parson, Steven Adams, Phillip Grose, Landon Hawkins and Cody Stephens. Honorary casket bearer will be John Saunders. A special thanks is extended to Platinum Hospice nurse Lisa and Hospice aid Nancy and caregivers, Rhonda, Twilla, Nickie and Samantha.
