Ronald Ray West of Arlington passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 4th, 2018, into his heavenly home and onto glory. Despite a valiant battle with illness, his devotion to family and steadfast faith in Jesus Christ sustained him with a certain blessed assurance. Ron looked forward to going from labor to reward, as he anticipated a joyous homecoming with his Savior and long-awaited reunion with his beloved wife, Darlene, of 38 years.
Born on July 27th, 1941 to Glen and Ona West, Ron was a devoted husband, father and dear friend to many. He was a longtime member of Tate Springs Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a deacon for many years and lived out his hope in Christ. Ron also proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.
He shared a profound work ethic, as Shipping Supervisor at Menasco for 20 years and Hardware Supervisor at Vought Aircraft for 22 years. In Retirement, Ron enjoyed small engine repair and later equipment maintenance with the Texas Rangers for 3 years. He was an avid Golfer who loved Bowling, Rangers baseball, Square Dancing, Mountain Dew & Whataburger. But, his greatest source of pride was his family who adored his humor and his heart. Ron took great joy in watching his children and his grandchildren in their various activities live out their unique gifts and talents.
Ron was preceded in death by his true love and best friend, Darlene Boteler West and his parents, Glen and Ona West. Left in God’s care are his beloved children and their spouses, Laura and Philip Lowry, Kevin and Rachel West and Lance and Martha West. He also leaves behind his precious grandchildren, Tyler, Logan, Hunter and Dylan Lowry, Hope and Sadie West and Seth and Noah West. Also survived by his brother, C.W. West and wife Charlotte, sister Brenda and husband Rich Richardson, sister Barbara and husband Ken Steelman, and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
