Born May 23, 1927 in Whitestone, Long Island, New York, he was the son of the late Ernest August Masche, Sr and Wilimina Huff Masche. A veteran of the US Army, he was a Criminal Investigator with the Military Police stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. That is where he met his wife, Anna, where she served as an interpreter. Ernest was a member of Miller’s Lutheran Church and retired as a general contractor in the construction business.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Anna Marie Masche.
Ernest is survived by his son, Ernest W. Masche and wife, Tamara, and grandson Alexander Masche of Hickory.
A Service of Remembrance, with Masonic rites, will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, 2018 in the chapel at Drum Funeral Home in Hickory with Pastor Kurtis Massey of Harvest Bible Chapel of Hickory officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
