Longtime Eltingville resident
Armando F. Wamba was born in Bronx, N.Y., and moved to Eltingville, S.I., in 1965. He passed of natural causes at the young age of 89.
He is survived by his wife, Marina Coralia Wamba; son, Armand Wamba (Karen), and daughter, Mia Mattei (Stephen); loving grandchildren, Christopher Wamba and Meghan Mattei, and also his great- grandchildren, Lukas and Giovanni Wamba.
Armando loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, and would always ask if they needed anything. Meghan's favorite memory of "Poppy" was the family trip to Disney World in 2000.
He attended Rice High School and Iona College, and later worked as a supervisor for the board of education. After retiring from the board, he was famous for his tax business, "A. F. Wamba Tax Services," where all his clients adored his blue eyes and full head of blond hair as well as their generous returns.
He was an accomplished golfer, scoring an "ace" at Silver Lake golf course, and he also loved bowling. Armando was proud of being a South Shore Rotarian where he enjoyed spending time with his fellow members.
In lieu of flowers, Armando and his family are requesting donations to the South Shore Rotary Foundation in Armando's name.
