William “Ron” Ronald Taylor, 75 of Merritt Island, FL passed away Monday, April 9, 2018. Born in Washington D.C., Ron moved to Florida in 1967 from Tennessee. He received his Bachelor's degree from East Tennessee State University, where he also met his wife of 54 years, Melodee. He earned his Master's degree from Stetson University. Ron dedicated his life to the students he taught and mentored in the Brevard County school system. Ron worked as a social studies teacher, guidance counselor, and football and softball coach before retiring from Rockledge High in 2003. He was a Georgia Bulldogs fan. Ron was an avid learner which resulted in many varied interests. One of Ron’s favorite places was Lake Okeechobee where he enjoyed fly fishing; he even tied his own flies. Ron also carved wooden fish and ducks that he gave his family to treasure; he had a love for water fowl that allowed him to put such care and detail into his work. If he wasn’t fishing, he would find himself on the golf course perfecting his golf game. He also loved to cook and read. Ron is survived by his loving wife, Melodee Taylor; daughter, Cindy Roark (James Roark); and grandsons: Dakoda Taylor and Desmond Roark. He will be missed by his devoted dog, Munson and cat Grizzy. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Brevard Humane Society, www.BrevardHumaneSociety.org or to Saving the Indian River Lagoon, www.savetheirl.org
A Celebration of Ron’s Life will be held Sunday, April 29, 2018 at 5PM at the Veteran's Memorial Center, 400 S. Sykes Creek Pkwy, Merritt Island. You are encouraged to dress casually.
