Donna L. Chudanov Age 90, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, beloved sister and friend, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2018. Born on November 24, 1927, in Akron, Ohio, Donna grew up in a neighborhood she remembered fondly where folks shared food from their gardens during the Great Depression. After losing her father at 16, she went to work at O’Neil’s Department Store, first as a sales clerk and then in clerical. She was proud to contribute financially during those tough times and was very close to her family. Donna met the love of her life Donald “Don” in her early teens but their courtship began several years later when he returned from WWII. They married on June 11, 1950 in Akron. Donna adored Don, and their two children, Cindy and Bill. In 1955 they packed up and moved to Phoenix, AZ. Don ran a barber shop business and Donna cared for the children and worked in the school system. She later worked for Mountain Bell for many years as a telephone operator. She enjoyed her family and her two granddaughters, and retired from her career in 1991. In their long retirement, Donna and Don enjoyed traveling back to Akron to visit family, and had many exciting trips around the country as both of their children worked for airlines. Don passed away in 2009, and in the nine years since Donna’s great joy was being with her family and watching her great-grandchildren grow. Donna is survived by her daughter Cindy Moliter (Ray); son Bill Chudanov; granddaughters Jennifer Jelenic (Ivo) and Stacie Dana (Jeremy); great-grandchildren Julius and Nikola Jelenic, and Eva, Miles and Marlon Dana; sister Norma Appell (Jim) and brother Mel Strbich (Marie). We will forever miss Donna’s sparkle, beautiful smile and joyful laugh.
