"Am" was born on April 23, 1932 in Greenwood, SC and moved immediately with his parents to Greenville. He was the only child of Nell Wharton Easterby and Ambrose H. Easterby, Sr. Am was a lifelong resident of Greenville and loved his community. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1950, where he lettered in football and golf. Am was an avid supporter of Clemson University, academics and athletics. He graduated from Clemson College, Class of 1954. At Clemson, Am was a four year letterman as a member of the golf team. He was a proud member of the Block C Club and a member of IPTAY for over 50 years.
Am spent his career in the automobile industry. First, as Vice President of Easterby Motor Company (A.H. Easterby Dodge) and later with Sitton Buick Motors. He was a lifelong member of Buncombe Street United Methodist Church, in the Roundtable Sunday School class.
Am was an avid outdoorsman. He loved playing golf, fishing, and hunting. Am was an expert marksman, winning the World Skeet Shooting Championship in 1965.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his devoted wife Amanda C. (Mandy) Easterby, and his son, Ambrose H. Easterby, III.
Am leaves behind an adoring family and a wide circle of friends. He is survived by his son Capers A. Easterby, daughter Elliott E. Crudup (Jody), son Samuel A. Easterby (Lesia), granddaughters Whitney E. Neal (Frank), Pearce C. Scales (McLain), Eliza Ambrose Easterby, Samantha A. Easterby and Alice Alston Crudup, one grandson Capers Adams Easterby, Jr., great grandson Jax Neal, and a special friend Millie M. Poole of Spartanburg, SC.
Following a private family burial, the family will have a celebration of life service on Tuesday, April 17 in the main sanctuary at Buncombe Street United Methodist Church at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church’s Orders Parlor.
