Joyce (Jay) is predeceased by her beloved husband of 51 years, George Tadeusz Strzetelski and son Alexander Gage Strzetelski. She is survived by her remaining children Peter Strzetelski and wife Debbie of Natick, Katherine Peretz and husband Sam of Acton, and Elizabeth and husband Ken Waldman of Natick. Her 6 grandchildren are Brendan , Erin and Meghan Fitzmaurice, James Waldman, Teddy and Bobby Strzetelski, 2 step grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers James A Bailey of Boise, ID and Edward H Bailey of Pasadena, CA.
Born to Edward Hopkins Bailey and Joyce Haskell Bailey (Dickinson) in 1934, she was raised in Wellesley. Jay graduated from the Beaver Country Day School, Duke University undergraduate program and Boston University graduate school.
A longtime residents of Wellesley, she was active in multiple community service organizations including Wellesley Community Children's , Wellesley Town Advisory Committee, Wellesley Town Meeting member, Coordinator of the Wellesley Public Schools Learning Disabilities Project and a Learning DisabilityTutor. She worked at Dana Hall School and The Education Cooperative (TEC).
Jay was an active parishioner of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Wellesley with a major commitment to the Altar Guild.
She was a lifelong member of the Wellesley Country Club with Honorary member status in recognition of over 60 years in the club.
Among her passions were golf, traveling to various locations in the Caribbean and South Carolina and walking tours in England. She was a role model while raising children and grandchildren with a patient and cheerful disposition that shall be greatly missed.
A service in celebration of her life will be held at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 79 Denton Rd at Washington St in Wellesley on Monday, June 11 at 11am.
