NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Emily Barrilleaux Dutil, age 86, at 10:00 am Monday, April 16, 2018 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Fr. Brian Harrington will officiate at the Mass and Gayle Bourque Johnson and Stacie Nicole Barrilleaux will be lecturers. Interment will follow at St. Marcellus Mausoleum in Rynella.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Sunday with a Rosary at 7:00 pm, led by Brenda Bourque Romero. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am until 9:30 am on Monday.
A native of Avery Island and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Dutil passed away at 5:15 am on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Iberia Medical Center.
Emily was known as Mama, MaeMae, Granny, Emi and GiGi. She was born on November 8, 1931 to Clarence “Bing” Barrilleaux, Sr. and Helen Comeaux Barrilleaux. She was born and raised on Avery Island and worked for McIlhenny Company for 45 years prior to retiring. She was loved by everyone and was always the perfect “lady.” She loved to shop and finding a bargain was always the plan. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, especially, the frequent trips to Florida prior to illness. She most recently enjoyed playing with Legos and Transformers with her great grandson. Her pets “Spot and Tracker” will miss her dearly.
Rest easy mama, it was a beautiful journey and we enjoyed it with you.
She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Ann Dutil VanDuzee and husband Everett and Connie Marie Dutil Romero and husband Robert all of New Iberia; one son, Lance Michael Dutil and wife Tracy of Pembroke Pines, FL; grandchildren, Brandon Barrilleaux and Trinity; Elana “Lanie” Romero Condra and Blair; Shani Lynn Touchet; Taylor Nicole Dutil and Tristan Michael Dutil; great grandchildren, John Robert Bourque; Stacie Barrilleaux; Brinkley Barrilleaux; Layla Barrilleaux and Cooper Barrilleaux; one brother, Clarence “Beb” Barrilleaux of Coteau; one sister, Ann Barrilleaux Smith of Buna, TX and her sister in law, Gail Barrilleaux of Port Neches, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Charley Barrilleaux; Carol Barrilleaux, Russell Barrilleaux and Eldridge Barrilleaux, two sisters, Odelle Barrilleaux and Elizabeth “Tot” Antrikin and her nieces, Nicole Ann Barrilleaux Dore and Stacie Lynn Barrilleaux.
Pallbearers will be Allen Barrilleaux, Howard Bourque, Brandon Barrilleaux, Stuart Johnson, Blair Condra, Nolan Bourque and Lance Dutil. Tristan Dutil, John Robert Bourque, Everett VanDuzee, Robert Romero, Shani Touchet, Carroll Romero, Sr and Cade Romero will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mata and his nurse, Karen for many years of care to their mother. Dr. Cousin, Staff of Family Medicine Clinic and Dr. Kitakule.
