Dorothy Roberts Bertz, 88, of Salem Oregon, went to be with Jesus on April 13, 2018. She was born in San Francisco, California on May 7, 1929. Dottie graduated from Fremont High School in Oakland, California and received a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education at San Jose State. She taught third grade at Garfield Elementary in San Leandro, California for many years. Dottie married Richard Bertz and together they had two sons. After retiring, she and Dick enjoyed traveling, both in and out of country. They moved to Salem and Capital Manor in 2002, where Dottie volunteered in the library and card shop, and was secretary of the Resident Advisory Committee.
Dottie was a member of Salem First Baptist Church. In addition to her volunteer work, she also enjoyed getting to know people from all walks of life, traveling, hummingbirds, quail, sequin handiwork, and catalog shopping.
Dottie is survived by her sons: David (Jennifer) and Douglas (Melinda); Grandchildren: Andrew (Anna), Sarah Morrow (Dan), Christopher (Christina), and Samantha; Great grandchildren: Noah, Ellie, and Nathan Bertz. She was preceded in death by husband, Dick.
A time of remembrance and celebration of life will be held at the Capital Manor Auditorium on Monday, April 23 at 2:30 p.m. Memorial donations in memory of Dottie may be made to Camp Tadmor 43943 McDowell Creek Dr. Lebanon, OR 97355.
