It is with great sadness that the family of Lois Edna Harris, child of Ruben Johnson Weber and Alice Mildred Gordon Weber, of Mount Vernon, Maine, announces her passing, on April 26, 2018 at the age of 84 years. She was called home to her final resting place surrounded in her final days by her children. Lois is preceded in her death by her mother, Alice Mildred Gordon Weber, her father, Ruben Johnson Weber and her husband of 24 years, Deane David Harris, who died in 1980. Lois was never able to overcome the loss of her husband and never had another partner.
Lois will be lovingly remembered by her children, Linda Lou Harris, Debra Ann Johnson, Deane David Harris, Jr. and Lori Sue Page. Lois will live forever in the memory of her 9 grandchildren, George Jr., Kelli, Mark, Ashley, Michelle, Virginia, Jeremy, Daniel and Kimberly, and her 10 great grandchildren, Brannon, Madison, Nicholei, Logan, Kristi, Nadine, Rachela, Makala, James, and Samuel. Lois had 7 brothers and sisters, Kenneth, Lloyd, Merle, Gordon, Dorathea, Amy, and Avis.
Lois was hard working, independent and self-sufficient. She raised her children while her husband Deane was in the Navy and often away from home for long periods of time. She donated blood and received special awards from the Escambia County Blood Bank for blood she donated. Lois had the opportunity to see the world and traveled to Las Vegas, Missouri, Maine, London, Paris, Australia and Kuala Lumpur during her long and enjoyable life. Of all the places she traveled Johnson Beach, just a few minutes from her home, was her favorite. She enjoyed country and gospel music. As a grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren baking cookies, going to movies, enjoying concerts and playing games. In her final days she enjoyed watching Steve Harvey on the game show network and classic Hallmark movies.
Lois accepted Jesus Christ into her life on December 11, 1966. We draw comfort from knowing that Lois is rejoicing in Heaven today with her animal companion of 20 years, Sassy and her husband Deane. She is surrounded by many of her brothers and sisters. Lois lived a long and enjoyable life. Her final wishes were not that we would mourn her passing but celebrate her life.
Her ashes will be scattered at Johnson Beach where she spent considerable time with her family and watched sunrises and sunsets. The family will hold a private ceremony celebrating her life.
