Elizabeth Louise Dodds Devilling died on April 27, 2018, in Durham NC. Elizabeth was born on August 17, 1925 in Wilkinsburg PA to Roy Douglas Dodds and Davetta Dyer Dodds. She was raised in Beaver County PA. During WWII she worked at an annealing furnace. She then attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Her career included being a commercial artist for department stores in Pittsburgh and Buffalo, a Mom, and a library assistant at the Henderson County (NC) Public Library.
In addition to art, Beth’s talents included piano and organ playing, woodworking, and a gentle sense of humor.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents, by her 1st husband Thomas Tuttle Connelly and her 2nd husband Nelson Clyde Devilling, as well as her brother, Robert W Dodds.
She is survived by her son, David Connelly (Renee) of Durham NC, her daughter, Maurie Hartshorn of Jacksonville FL, two grandchildren, Savannah Hartshorn and Patrick Connelly, and by her sister Davetta Milnes of Yucaipa CA.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 4th, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Watts Street Baptist Church, 800 Watts St, Durham 27701.
The family invites any memorials to be added to the Elizabeth Devilling scholarship fund at the Community Foundation of Henderson County.
