Alexandria, Louisiana on November 24, 1946. Shirley graduated from Bolton High School
in Alexandria, Louisiana in 1964 and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches,
Louisiana in 1967.
Shirley married David E. Butler June 1, 1967 and was his loving wife and best friend until
her death in April of this year. In November of 1969 they had two children, Stacie and
Jon, while living in San Diego, California.
Shirley loved to read, bake, sew and travel, but more than anything else she loved
people. Her favorite things to do included spending time with her family and friends
and meeting new people, who quickly became new friends. Everyone who met her
was touched by her thoughtfulness, kindness and patience. Shirley will be lovingly
remembered for her generous heart and her ability to light up a room with her smile.
Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Samuel J. Baglio, and her mother, Eileen W.
Drerup. Shirley is survived by her husband, David E. Butler, as well as her children, siblings,
grandchildren, great grandchildren, and countless friends who Shirley always
considered to be family. Shirley will be deeply missed by all.
A private memorial service will be held at 11:00am on May 12, 2018, at Serenity
Gardens Memorial Park in Largo, Florida. A celebration of life will be held in early June.
