Louis was born in Yonkers, NY, June 29, 1935, the son of the late Louis R. and Rosemary (Groff) Chiarito. He was raised in New Rochelle, NY, and following high school entered the US Army, and served during the Korean War with the 9th Infantry Division.
Louis was a resident of Danbury for the past 50 years. He was employed with United Parcel Service in Yorktown, NY for 18 years, followed by his employment with HART Transit in Danbury for 10 years until the time of his retirement. He was a parishioner of Saint Joseph Church, Danbury, where in his younger years volunteered as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader with Troop 33, and a member of Phoenix Hose Co. #8 in Danbury. He was a lifelong New York Yankee fan, enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing pinochle, and caring for his cats.
Louis is survived by his children: Louis R. Chiarito Jr. and his wife Sharon of New Milford, Marie B. Chiarito of Fort Oglethorpe, GA, Sean P. Chiarito and his wife Betsy of Manchester, MA, Mark C. Chiarito and his wife Colleen of New Britain, and Theresa R. Keeler and her husband Patrick of Danbury, one brother: Kenneth Chiarito of PA, 15 grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Tuesday May 8, 2018, at Saint Joseph Church, Danbury. Burial with military honors will be in Saint Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
The family will receive friends at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury on Monday May 7th from 5:00 thru 8:00pm.
