Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 8 at Bryan City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 p.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.
Wayne was born June 27, 1929 in Edge the son of Leonard and Earlene (Barnett) Holliday. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Bryan. Wayne played football and graduated from Sam Houston State University. After graduation he was to begin his career by playing professional football, but due to an injury sustained in a car accident his career ended. After taking time to heal from the accident, Wayne proudly served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He married Charlotte Prescott on October 10, 1959 in San Antonio. While working in the oil industry, his job took him and his family all over the world. Traveling to Dubai, Nigeria, Iran, West and Northern Africa were some of the destinations. Wayne retired in 1996 to be home and stay close to his family.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Palma Holliday; brother, Billy Earl Holliday; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Vic Zouzalik; daughter, Kathy Christian; sisters-in-law, Kay Broyles and Pat Lauer; brothers-in-law, Johnny Prescott and Curtis Conrad.
He is survived by his wife of, 58 years, Charlotte Holliday; son, Michael Holliday; daughter and son-in-law, Judi and Charlie Jones; and son-in-law, James Christian. His grandchildren who affectionately called him “Paw Paw Wayne”, Colton Stafford, Chase Chester, Michelle Christian and husband Boedy Martinsen, Justin Christian and wife Amanda; great-grandchildren, Sydney Christian, Rage Martinsen, Eryn Christian and Arya Christian; and numerous nieces and nephews.
