FULTONDALE - John Bell, age 82, of Fultondale, Ala., died May 5, 2018 at Brookwood Medical Center. Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at Sunset Chapel with George Weeks officiating. Burial will follow in Williamson Cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Liston C. and Esther C. Bell; wives, Nancy Edgeworth Bell and Patsy D. Bell; and sister, Frances Bell Lewis.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanine W. Bell of Fultondale, Ala.; daughter, Beth Bell Hedges (Scott Hedges) of Louisville, Ky.; son, John David Bell (Elaine Bell) of Alabaster, Ala.; step-children, Rhonda Sharp (Steve) and Amy Gilland (Billy); grandchildren, Matthew Bell (Ashley), Adam Bell, Andrew Bell (Amy), Timothy Bell, Gareth Hedges and Nathan Hedges; great-grandchildren, Alice Bell and Esther Bell; and nephew, Robert Lewis of Northport, Ala.
John Bell was born in Northport, Ala. on July 27, 1935. He was a graduate of Tuscaloosa County High School and The University of Alabama. John participated in ROTC at the University of Alabama and served on active duty for six months with the Quarter Master Corps at Fort Lee, Virginia. He was a certified public accountant. His career included several accounting firms and Royal Crown Cola. John attended Gardendale First Baptist Church. He had a love for golf and University of Alabama football.
