Margaret “Peg” (Blake) Storer, 95, died peacefully on Sunday, May 6, 2018. She was the wife of the late Alfred C. Storer and the daughter of the late Charles and Edith Blake. Peg graduated from West Orange High School in New Jersey in 1940 and Katherine Gibbs School in 1943. She later received a B.A. degree from Douglass College in 1974. Peg and Al married in 1943. He predeceased her in 2002. They lived for many years in Mendham Township, NJ, where they raised their family. Peg wrote advertising and publicity for the Morris Museum and Fabricated Plastics and wrote a food column in a weekly newspaper. While living in France from 1963 to 1965, she contributed “Letters from Paris” to the weekly newspaper. In 1998, Peg and Al sold 45 acres to the township to be used for open space. The area is now known as the Cold Hill Preserve.
She moved to Chatham full time in 2002 where she was active in St. Christopher’s Church, the Chatham Writers, and the Atwood House Museum. Since 1968, she was a member of Eastward Ho! where she played with the 9 hole group.
Peg is survived by five children: Charles, Tobin, Cynthia, Jeffrey, and Meredith; eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Joan Purdom, and nephew John Strasburger.
