Laney Grace Darden was born on January 16, 2017 in Dallas, Texas. Due to a complicated heart defect Laney lived for 10 months at Medical City Children’s Hospital Dallas in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the Congenital Heart Surgical Unit. Throughout Laney’s time there she underwent a miraculous heart surgery, and eventually became strong enough to come home to North Richland Hills in November. Laney was known for her beautiful blonde hair, chubby cheeks, and blue eyes. She loved her nurses, playing in the bath, riding in the car and cuddling with the long line of family members always waiting to hold her. Laney celebrated Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter at home before being admitted to Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth due to a sudden illness in April 2018. Laney passed away on May 4, 2018 despite the dedicated and compassionate efforts of her Dallas and Fort Worth doctors.
Laney was loved and treasured by her grateful parents, Gage and Lindsay Darden, her grandparents; Charles and Dianna Darden, and David and Laura Asbell; her uncle Grant Darden, aunt and uncle Sarah and Danny Peltier, aunt Claire Asbell, soon-to-be uncle Reese Cory and cousins Evelyn and William Peltier. Laney was met in Heaven with a host of loving great grandparents as well as her Heavenly Father Jesus Christ, who showed unending grace, mercy and power throughout her 15 months of life.
In honor of Laney Grace, her family will continue to support the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the Congenital Heart Surgical Unit at Medical City Children's Hospital in Dallas, Texas. All funds will be used to benefit the children and families in the hospital that became their second home.
