Matthew B. Strasser, Jr., age 86, died in Plano, Texas on May 8, 2018. Born August 19, 1931 in New Orleans, LA to Matthew B. Strasser, Sr. and Ruth L. Ligon Strasser. He was the beloved husband and widower of Dorothy M. Dunn Strasser. Survived by his three loving children, Robert M. Strasser, Michael L. Strasser, Ruth E. Strasser Cremers, beloved son-in-law, Michael Cremers, beloved daughter-in-law, Valerie M. Strasser, and his loving granddaughter, Anna Marie Cremers. He is survived by his sister, Dianne Strasser Hecker. Brother of the late Mary Ruth Strasser Rivero and Beverly Strasser Kzirian. Brother-in-law of the late George Dermody and Catherine Dunn Dermody. He is survived by many nieces and nephew. A Korean War Army veteran, he was honorably discharged with military decorations awarded. A retired employee of Kaiser Aluminum and long-term resident of Chalmette, Louisiana for over 50 years, he had resided in Plano, Texas since 2005 after Hurricane Katrina. A graduate of Louisiana State University mechanical engineering program, Adult Boy Scout of America leader of Troop 85 in Chalmette, Louisiana for many years, Recipient of the BSA Silver Beaver Award, and a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church for over 50 years.
Visitation will be at Ted Dickey Funeral Home on Monday, May 14, 2018 from 7:30pm – 10:00pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00pm on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 3100 W. Spring Creek Pkwy., Plano, TX. Internment will follow at 2:15pm at DFW National Cemetery.
