HICKORY— Jolene Canipe Bryant, 85, of Hickory passed away peacefully at Catawba Regional Hospice on Tuesday, May 08, 2018. Born in Catawba County on February 18, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Annie Lee Andrews Canipe. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William “Bill” Coleman Bryant and a brother Michael Duane Canipe. Jolene was a longtime member of First Church of God, she recently received an award for 65 years of membership. She is survived by her daughters Susan McGee and husband Gary of Conover and Louanna Strom and husband Jerry of Hickory; granddaughter Lesa Deshea Sluder and husband Marc of Connelly Springs; great grandchildren Jenna Leigh Butler of Hickory and Bryant Butler of Granite Falls; sister Logene Canipe Mullinix of Greensboro; brothers Thomas Canipe and wife Selma of Lake James and Richard Canipe and wife Lula of Hickory; sister-in-law Glenda Canipe of Hickory; caregiver Erin Quarzenski ; granddogs, Lucy and Astro and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 10:45 am to 11:45 am at Hickory Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 12:00 pm at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Michael Hone officiating. Inurnment will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
