Monica was a devout Catholic with unshakeable faith as an active parishioner
of St Jerome Catholic Church in Largo, Florida.
She was a devoted wife and loving mother to her four children.
Monica was a woman of strong character and strength.
Her friends and family loved her wisdom and wit,
many times both delivered in the same sentence.
Monica didn't have to publicly proclaim her faith in God,
her daily actions showed her love for God to all of those around her.
She was compassionate to all and a wonderful sister, aunt and friend,
always taking time to listen, guide and lend a helping hand,
with her Irish smile, pretty blue eyes and sweet sense of humor.
Raising the young Creedon boys, Monica needed both faith and humor,
from a garter snake left in a pocket in the laundry, to the boys finding
mischief around every corner, and patience with Eileen and her lack of
culinary skills and her inability to admit it. Monica always had a look of joy
in her eyes with any success her children achieved in life.
Monica was born in the Bronx and grew up in White Plains, New York.
She was the eldest of four children, daughter of the late
Charles and Mary Moran of County Leitrim Ireland.
Monica always treasured her Irish heritage. She passed
her love of Irish music down to her children by playing
Irish songs as they did their Saturday morning chores.
She graduated from St Johns High School in White Plains, N.Y.
After meeting Jerry, her Navy man and love of her life,
they married on May 31, 1958.
Monica pursued an Advertising Sales position at the Reporter Dispatch Newspaper,
where her ambition and drive enabled them to buy their 1st home in Hawthorne, N.Y.
where Eileen, Kevin and Michael were born.
Jerry pursued his dream of being a N.Y. State Trooper and shortly
after they moved to Brewster, N.Y. where John was born.
Then duty called again and they moved further north to Red Hook, New York.
Monica was a woman ahead of her time and while working as a tire sales person at
Montgomery Ward, she spearheaded the change of the dress code for woman
to allow them to wear pants on the sales floor and the warehouse.
She later took a full time job as the payroll administrator at Orchard Hill Farms
and then later at Red Hook school district and was there until they
relocated in 1983 to Largo, Florida.
She continued her work in payroll at Modern Talking Pictures in St. Petersburg.
Later, she pursued her passion to help young mothers at Catholic Charities’
Pregnancy Center in St Pete where she retired.
Monica was an active member of the Martha and Mary Guild at St. Jerome.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and her hobbies
were playing Rummikub, Free Cell, nibbling on Chocolate and searching
for the best Marguerita recipe.
