Mr. Harold Edward Tinley, age 98, of Roswell, Georgia passed away on May 8, 2018. He was born in 1920 to Terrance & Gertrude Tinley and was raised in Lemont, Illinois. He served in the US Army Air Corps in the South Pacific Theater. He married Helen, his wife of 63 years and had two sons, John & Mark. After his honorable discharge from military service, he and Helen lived in Baltimore, Maryland and Chicago, Illinois. They later bought and restored an historic home in Charleston, South Carolina. Their last move took them to Spring Hill, Florida. Following Helen’s death in 2007, he moved to St. George Village in Roswell, Georgia to be closer to his sons. Harold retired from Continental Can Company. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking, clock collecting and repair, reading, and was an amateur blacksmith. He was dearly loved by his wife of 63 years, Helen; his two sons, John Tinley (Lauren) of Marietta, Georgia and Mark Tinley (Debra Koziol) of Cornelius, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Virginia Strowe (Daniel) of St. Simons Island, Georgia; Matthew Tinley of Houston, Texas; Elizabeth Daly (Kevin) of Knox, Maine; and Caroline Tinley of New York City, New York; and four great grandchildren. The family will honor Harold at a Memorial Service on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of H.M. Patterson & Son – Canton Hill Chapel. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service at the funeral home.
