He was an Eagle Scout and a 1968 graduate of Liberty High School, obtained a BA in Romance Languages at Wake Forest University in 1972 and was a member of Sigma Pi Fraternity. In 2004 he achieved a life goal; he earned his Master’s Degree in Community College Administration from Western Carolina University. He served as an “English As A Second Language” Teacher for 25 years with Jordan Matthews High School, South Asheboro Middle School and Cummings High School and then went on to teach at Central Carolina Community College as an ESL Instructor. He was currently an ESL Instructor and Testing Coordinator at Alamance Community College. He served as Past Master of Liberty Masonic Lodge #714 AF&AM. Jimmy loved the Lord and served his church, Bethlehem Wesleyan Church, as Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, pianist and church board member.
A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Wesleyan Church, 9468 Siler City-Snow Camp Road, Snow Camp, NC with Rev. Don Southern and Rev. Larry Frye officiating; burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Loflin Funeral Home of Liberty.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Bascom Brower, Sr. and Sara Staley Brower.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 42 years, Brenda Moon Brower; daughter, Mary Alice Brower; son, Christopher Michael Brower (Crystie Tucker); mother-in-law, Olene Moon; sister-in-law, Faye Kinton; niece, Patricia Brown and great-nephews, Derek and Cody Brown.
